Focused Search is a simple app that helps you get more relevant results and type less when doing internet searches. It is especially useful when doing many similar or repetitive searches in one area. Search engines have parameters that can help you focus your search. Among other things, you can focus on a particular site, include or exclude words and phrases. The only issue is that you have to type these parameters every time you search. This typing can get tedious quickly, especially on mobile devices. Focused Search makes some of these search parameters a bit more accessible and easier to use, reuse and combine. The following can be customised and saved for reuse: Search engine Specific site where you want your results to come from Helper phrase (either add or exclude words in your search) These are the situations where it could be useful: STREAMLINE SEARCH - SEARCH A SPECIFIC SITE Specify a site when you already know which site contains the information you are looking for. When given a specific site, search engines will return results only from that site. It could be a well known video site or a recipes site or a coding site, or any site at all. STREAMLINE SEARCH - ADD OR EXCLUDE A PHRASE When looking for many bits of information related to a certain area, it is likely that one part of the search phrase could stay the same and only some other part needs to change between the searches. For example, if you are working on an iOS project and making a lot of related searches (as you sometimes do), you can make your searches more precise if you include a phrase such as iOS cocoa or iOS cocoa swift . Instead of typing one of these phrases every time you can reuse them and only type the part that is actually different, which could be something like 'topAnchor' or 'dateFormatFromTemplate'. Conversely, if you want to exclude certain words or certain sites, prefix the term that they would match on with a - (a dash or a minus sign). This will tell search engines not to bring back results matching that term. REPEAT OR LOAD PREVIOUS SEARCHES Just like revisiting previously visited sites in your browser s history, here you can additionally revisit your previous searches. They can then either be re-run or edited.
